How to draw a bubble letter X

1. Pencil two diagonals crossing in the middle.
2. Outline the shape so the four arms swell out from a thick center.
3. Round the four ends.
4. Leave four triangular gaps with soft corners, one on each side.

The tricky part

The crossing point gets very thick. Make the letter wider than it is tall, or the gaps at the sides close before the top and bottom ones do.

Lowercase bubble x

The lowercase x is the capital at x-height. Bubble fonts often make the arms almost touch, so check the gaps are open when you print small.

Bubble letter X sizes and page counts

Letter height here is the height of the capital, the number you would measure on the wall. The width follows from the shape of the X, which in the Bubble style is about as wide as a typical capital. Page counts assume a 10 mm printer margin and the orientation that needs fewer sheets.

The largest X that fits on a single Letter sheet is 7.5 inches tall, printed portrait. For a bulletin board, 6 to 8 inches reads from the back of a classroom; for a door or a banner, 10 to 12 inches.
