Printable bubble numbers for birthdays and parties

A big bubble number is the simplest birthday decoration there is: one or two digits, printed on colored card, taped to the door or the table. Type the age into the maker, choose One number per page, and each digit fills a whole sheet. For a milestone like 50 or 100, switch to Whole word and set the height to 10 or 12 inches so the digits stay together as one piece.

For a colored display with no cutting, choose the Colored fill. For a coloring activity at the party, keep the outline so each guest can decorate a number.

Drawing bubble numbers by hand

Numbers follow the same method as letters. Write the digit lightly, draw a rounded outline a finger-width away from it, round every corner and leave the holes in 0, 4, 6, 8 and 9 open. The digits people struggle with are 4, which has an open or closed top depending on the style, and 8, where the two loops want to merge. Keep the top loop of the 8 slightly smaller than the bottom one.

A 1 in bubble form is a plain capsule, so it takes much less width than the other digits. When you space a number like 10 or 2021 by hand, give the 1 less room or it will look like a gap.

Sizes and paper

Each digit fills a Letter page at roughly 7 to 9 inches tall in One per page mode. For bigger numbers, pick a height in Whole word mode. A single digit 12 inches tall prints on two to four sheets depending on its width, and the preview shows exactly how it splits. Print on cardstock if the numbers will be handled or stood up.
