Make a happy birthday banner

For a banner that hangs across a wall or a doorway, keep the text on one line and choose a height between 4 and 6 inches. At 5 inches, Happy Birthday comes to five or six Letter sheets in landscape, depending on the style. Print them, trim along the crop marks, tape the sheets together in order from the back, then punch two holes near the top of each end and thread string or ribbon through.

For bunting, the pennant-style banner with one letter per flag, choose One letter per page instead. Each letter fills a sheet. Cut each sheet into a triangle or a swallowtail below the letter, fold the top over a string, and tape it.

Add the name and the age

The same method works for any message: Welcome Home, Congratulations, Happy Retirement, Baby Shower, Merry Christmas, Class of 2027. Type it in, check the sheet count, and print. Long words at a large height add up quickly, so if the count gets high, drop the height by an inch or split the message over two lines.
