How to draw a bubble letter L

1. Pencil a stem and a foot going right along the baseline.
2. Outline both as one shape, rounding the top and the end of the foot.
3. Curve the inside corner where the foot meets the stem.
4. Ink it. The L is another easy one to practice on.

The tricky part

Keep the foot at least half the height of the stem. A short foot makes a bubble L look like a lowercase l or a number 1.

Lowercase bubble l

The lowercase l is a single tall stem, a rounded capsule taller than the other lowercase letters. In some fonts it is hard to tell from a capital I, so check it in the word you are printing.

Bubble letter L sizes and page counts

Letter height here is the height of the capital, the number you would measure on the wall. The width follows from the shape of the L, which in the Bubble style is about as wide as a typical capital. Page counts assume a 10 mm printer margin and the orientation that needs fewer sheets.

The largest L that fits on a single Letter sheet is 9.5 inches tall, printed portrait. For a bulletin board, 6 to 8 inches reads from the back of a classroom; for a door or a banner, 10 to 12 inches.
