How to draw a bubble letter C

1. Draw a skeleton C as three-quarters of a circle, open on the right.
2. Draw the outer curve and the inner curve parallel to it, keeping the band the same thickness all the way round.
3. Close each end of the band with a round cap, like the end of a sausage.
4. Ink it and add one shine mark on the upper left of the curve.

The tricky part

The two round ends decide whether it reads as a C or an O. Leave the opening at least a third of the letter height, because the puffed-up ends always creep towards each other.

Lowercase bubble c

The lowercase c is the same shape at x-height. It sits lower than the capital, so on a mixed-case banner line up its bottom with the capitals, not its top.

Bubble letter C sizes and page counts

Letter height here is the height of the capital, the number you would measure on the wall. The width follows from the shape of the C, which in the Bubble style is about as wide as a typical capital. Page counts assume a 10 mm printer margin and the orientation that needs fewer sheets.

The largest C that fits on a single Letter sheet is 8 inches tall, printed portrait. For a bulletin board, 6 to 8 inches reads from the back of a classroom; for a door or a banner, 10 to 12 inches.
