How to draw a bubble letter R

1. Pencil a P, then add a leg running from the bottom of the bump down to the right.
2. Outline everything as one shape.
3. Leave one hole in the bump, and round the joint where the leg leaves the bump.
4. Round the foot of the stem and the end of the leg.

The tricky part

The leg joins the bowl at the same place the bowl joins the stem, and that corner crowds up. Start the leg a little to the right of the stem so the hole stays open.

Lowercase bubble r

The lowercase r is a short stem with a small shoulder curling right. In bubble fonts the shoulder is often just a round knob.

Bubble letter R sizes and page counts

Letter height here is the height of the capital, the number you would measure on the wall. The width follows from the shape of the R, which in the Bubble style is about as wide as a typical capital. Page counts assume a 10 mm printer margin and the orientation that needs fewer sheets.

The largest R that fits on a single Letter sheet is 7.5 inches tall, printed portrait. For a bulletin board, 6 to 8 inches reads from the back of a classroom; for a door or a banner, 10 to 12 inches.
